Hello....It is a 4 stroke engine !!!! You must slowly kick 3 times toward the compression stroke. Choke out and then kick.

What handlebars are on that? I want something nicer to replace my stock ones but I also want them to be comfortable also.

What was a easy start..om my 1988 a have to kick it for an hour at least if it stand for 5 days about..and after 1400 km the cluth basken come out and trow away my feet..so and by another bike insted..

Do you hold the clutch in when you kick over a dirtbike? I always do when I start my yz490. Takes as many kicks as yours did mate. Are there any benefits starting it with the clutch in or just a preference?

I got this one too, but with an e-start button! Got it from one of my customers! It was an 1990, with only 8900 KM! The last owner - my customer, kept it for more than 20 years, but at least 10 years he didn`t use it! It was just parking around! in 2020, I bought it, and since then, I have a lot of fun with that motorcycle!

Wow blast from the past!.. I had a rough j reg one that had been brush painted black so I decided to paint mine black and silver to look like a black bomber. Looks like I wasn't the only one?.. that was after I had paintedt yellow, don't ask me why? Ha.. amazing job on yours it looks better than new

PSA easiest way to start these is to put the kickstand down and then hop up on the foot pegs, putting most of your weight on the stand side. Lever smoothly stroked to the "click" which is top dead center. This has auto decompress so it'll be easy. One nice kick with the throttle 1/4 and then decompress to TDC and kick - should turn over. If not - repeat. Use your weight rather than muscle to kick it and actually "kicking" hard isn't the trick but rather smooth dropping of your weight on the lever.
